Appropriation is not simply participating or using aspects of a foreign culture. NO ONE HAS EVER SAID THAT. THATS NOT WHAT IT IS! To appropriate is to do so in a crude, offensive, disrespectful way that perpetuates negative ideas and stereotypes about the culture in question.
Rihanna is not primarily an R&B artist and neither has Tina Turner been since the 1980s. They are thrown in R&B categories because they're Black that's a no brainer
