TPP era should have had a tracklist cut in half and should not have included the gimmicky anawonda what #1 feels like. it derailed potential to go in a more artistic mature direction.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. She thought pills n pootie tang was going to be big and it underperform so she stuck to the easily exciteable stunt of showing off what she paid for and provided a subpar rap that any stripper turned "rapper" would do a song like that.
Then relied on true urban a listers to get hits (drake/beyonce/chris/wayne)...
The PinkPrint should have been an album that covered all of the elements of a female rapper and serve as a pinkprint for future female rappers.
She could have her ratchet bops, but also her introspective, relatable, triumphant celebratory type songs and take her music to the next level with innovation and bringing something new to the table.
Instead we got her best songs serving drake songs recording early in the process that would never make the album cut, a song that rips off missy, kim, katy perry, shakira yodels and a couple of watered down pop songs.
All this because she either doesn't know who she is or doesn't know how to convey who she is as an artist to people outside of stans that will support anything.
Thus, overrated, overhyped underperformed.
It's a shame thanks to Kim, missy, eve, queen la etc. she has a lane and platform to do something great and the best thing she did was make money (which is good)...the rap community is not better after her inclusion in the game.
