The smile soon turned into a blank, lifeless stare (12)
She lost a lot of weight and began to lose her hair (13)
My brother didn’t get it and I couldn’t just say it (14)
But I knew I was watching her slowly decaying (13)
After a while she was too weak to fight back (12)
And all the light once around her began to fade to black (13)
To most it would seem like the darkest kind of horror (13)
But she seemed so calm when the reaper stood before her (13)

But she told us that we were the only shred of light (13)
One cloudy morning, she got up and called my dad (12)
Asked him to pick us up, because this time it was bad (13)
My dad heard her screams as soon as he opened the door (13)
He asked me how long this had been going on for (12)
I told him the truth and I couldn’t help but cry (12)
“What if one day he hits her so hard that she dies?” (13)
She knew she’d never give him that kind of power (12)
So she wrote a letter to me in her final hour (14)
“Its gonna be hard to live without a mother, (12)
But be mama’s big boy and take care of your brother.” (13)
“Tell your dad that I love him and I always did, (12)
Even when we separated and he took you kids.” (13)
“I know you’ll be okay and I know you’ll go far, (12)
And if you ever miss me, just look up at the stars.” (13)
