i think Gaga made enough of a mark to where she'll still be referenced in a way like Cyndi Lauper, Boy George, Paula Abdul, Vanilla Ice, etc & all the other fad phenomenons. i can see her years from now still out there but doing other D-list things. some people aren't meant to have longevity.

d. @MrBeyonceFan, J don't even entertain it anymore. She had 1 era 4 where she was scrambling chartwise, and now they forget she was Billboards female artist of the decade. She literally has a top 10 from every album except 4 back to 1997 with DC.

If she wanted to manipulate the charts now, between her dad, Jay-Z, and her connections, that'd be nothing. But ultimately charts themselves mean nothing, they're just a reflection of when people are listening to one song at one time. You can frontload most songs into a good chart position (radio deal, video, selling, and streaming at the same time) and claim it as a "hit".

Hits are only meaningful when they transcend their chart positions and become cultural markers.

For example, RTW >> Check On It in terms of recognition. 1 peaked at #1, the other peaked at 29
