Yeah, I sometimes wonder about this too. I wish they would've really just milked Animal for all it was worth. I think it might be my favourite debut album from a pop star in the entire history of... ever. I mean, as far as pop music goes, it's practically perfect. I really think it could've become one of THE defining albums of our time with just a few more singles and some slightly more aggressive promo. I'm still not tired of it. I own physical copies of literally hundreds and hundreds of albums, but I *still* listen to Animal like we're back in the first half of 2010.
But Cannibal was really good too, so I wouldn't wanna not have the EP in my life just so Animal could've racked up a few more hits. And she might not have embarked on her own headlining tour if Cannibal hadn't been released -- I think the Cannibal record really gave her enough material to flesh our her live shows. But history repeated itself once again and some of its best tracks were left unreleased. The title track and Sleazy, for example, were SUCH missed opportunities.
She's got so many amazing songs that simply haven't gotten the exposure they deserve.
Which is kind of a double-edged sword, 'cause sometimes I'll be like, "Well, I don't really wanna have to share this level of perfection with the whole world anyway," and then other times it'll be, "Omg, if these people only knew how AWESOME her stuff actually is!!"
It can be quite frustrating.
