Rihanna's music always sounds bootleg. that's what you get when you mash together a bunch of rushed demo scraps from every songwriter on every corner of the earth and record it in 3 takes (with exact recreations of the demo vocals, like diamonds). the fact that she has SEVERAL times now stuck straight-up unfinished songs on her albums
(i.e. birthday cake, half the good songs on anti barely being able to chug past the 2 min mark, worthless interludes).
it's also the reason why 99% of the songs on her albums are filler constructed to be padding around a hit lead single (which she finally lacked this era, thus making her entire album filler)
