An artists biggest flop could be their signature hit; it is just the song that they are remembered for. That song is I Kissed A Girl, so far, for Katy.
And Youtube views =/= a good video, they just mean that it is a popular song that people want to listen to for free.
Edit:
According to Mediatraffic, California Gurls, I Kissed a girl and Hot N Cold were all bigger than Firework?

How can a song be remembered without being popular?
Yes, YouTube views do equal popularity of the video. If people want to
listen to a song for free they wont just
watch a music video. They will listen to it on Spotfy, Lastfm etc, or go illegally download it.
And
at you using media traffic as a source for singles.
IKAG was four years ago. Although I'm sure everyone that is somewhat intuned with pop culture is vaguely aware of IKAG, but how many of them like it, let alone know who sings it is another question.
If you say "Baby you're a fireeeee" "Do you ever feel like a plastic bag?", or even simply the word "Firework" people will make the connection to the song.
