!!!!! do you live with me man? I've been rockin Kool & The Gang all my morning... they're def one of the most important figure in FUNK music along with Chaka Khan and James Brown.

Beyoncé always serves with that genre: work it out, end of time & grown woman (both more afrobeat than funk though). Afrobeat is the african variant of funk music; the difference is that afrobeat added local chanting like the man in grown woman or the way she sings End Of Time chorus & bridge.
