I don't really get this meme that EDM is dead. We've recently seen many electronic acts break into the mainstream recently: Swedish House Mafia, Zedd, Krewella, Calvin Harris, Daft Punk etc.
I think it's partly because a lot of the bigger dance artists like Gaga and Britney haven't had albums out and some of the other artists known for dance music like Rihanna have been releasing non-dance singles. Either way, we've still had a big number of dance songs go multiplatinum within the last 6 months or so.

but let's face it even tho Dance music is not as present as it was 2 years ago, it still won't fade away and it will be popular

True, it's not but look at the top ten on iTunes. There's dance-pop, ballads, funk, electro-rock,R&B, country...No genre is really smashing , music is just really diversified right now, which is a good thing.
Do you think the era would be different if die young was released last spring and CK in summer as 2nd single
immensely. while they're not indie, they have similar melodies and aspects enough for them both to fit in with the rising trend and be alongside fun. and Gotye's smashes. Crazy Kids would at least be in the top ten by now. if not then by two weeks it would.

omg it just hit me this is 2009 all over again.
not exactly, but i mean this sense of there being no exact genre dominating like everything's just blended well together. all the right songs are #1 hits and all the good and jammable songs are still doing very well and/or have at least decent exposure like wow.
although I've given up on this song becoming a WW hit. If it happens that's great, but I just really want it to become a hit in the US at this point.
