Why is the ability to understand someone's point (even though you may disagree with it) is such a looked down upon trait these days? It's always "agree with me or youre a bigot"

Why do I have to mention it explicitly, though? I dont think people are out here, regardless of their affiliation are saying "Yo **** them kids
" So sympathy for them, should be pretty much understood.
and I think your mixing up EMPATHY, with SYMPATHY.
