Yeah but at the same time, she wants her music to be accessible to as many people as she can, thats any artists goal, and the only way in achieving that is to be as successful as you can. I think there is an important balance between the quality of the sound you put out and a focus on releasing music that you know will do well.
I agree though, I would prefer an album of Love Into the Lights over an album of Die Young's, but that doesn't mean you can't balance the two. Plus on a more selfish note, its so much funner to jam to a song when everyone you are with knows it to. Like when Shower first came out, it wasnt as fun listening to it because no one knew what the **** it was. I think she has the knowledge to create an album thats both true to herself and well liked by the GP, just think of the slayage that would of been if Last Goodbye was released.
