If they did go that far, they'd end up being around Top 25 hits. They're good songs, but there just weren't any smashes left.

I'm glad they did the one-two punch with MKIA/Stronger though but I think DS coulda been a bigger first punch

Uhm no. Blow Me did not had the kind of longevity as Stronger. In case you don't know, Stronger was played more +500,000 times in 2012. The radio stations just didn't want to stop playing the song.

But DS lingered in the top 30 of iTunes for ever. And it just climbed up there by itself, because the BMA promo had no effect. So a lot of people were here for it

i can't at you arguing Stronger's radio play destroyed Dark Sides run.

It was released YONKS after Stronger and they are completely different songs. It performed NO WHERE worldwide; even in markets where Stronger had a quick peak.

DS was released like 2 months after WDKY had peaked, most of the buzz Kelly had from it was gone by then.

Almost any song on Stronger with MKIA's promotional campaign would have have fared just as well, many could have utilized the promo far better though and make more of an impact. MKIA is way too slow of a burner. It delayed the release of WDKY because it took so long to peak and didn't create a lot of hype for the album debut.

The picture was from the AMA preformance of MKIA and it wasn't that bad

Stronger's success was one of the main factors Dark Side didn't do well. Kelly herself agrees. At one point Stronger got bigger AI gains then Dark Side. The recurrent airplay of Stronger was bigger then the current airplay of dark side.

MKIA is more radio-friendly than DS, so I think it could've fared well on its own as a third late-summer single. DS would have been better off feeding off of lead single promo and a fall/winter release when depressing songs do much better. No one wanted to hear such an emo song during the summer.

What about Catch My Breath

They should created a better lead single to be honest. Something produced by Claude Kelly or Max Martin - then released Stronger. We could of had a smash era
