One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight...
I could say the same thing for most of the songs from 21st Century Breakdown --- More than the melody, rhythm and whatever technical terminology in music, I am greatly awed with how deep and meaningful their songwriting has become. I never thought that they will be able to top American Idiot on any attempt, but "21 Guns" is one song that definitely sealed and established their comeback and is essentially a testimony of their continuing growth as musicians. This is a beautiful anthem for resignation and acceptance of defeat in a "fight" we all can interpret differently. It surely has become one of my all-time favorite songs.

And finally, give it up for the song of the year, :banana4:

Well, sentence me to another life...
Definitely the song that bridged the gap between their previous album Riot! and their latest Brand New Eyes, "Ignorance" is a solid evidence that the band has become more mature in all musical departments, while retaining some of their previous sound. This song is a true standout from all of the alternative/semi-mainstream rock tracks released this year for it sounded so much stronger and angrier, and it sounded even better coming from a female vocalist. It may not have reached the same success their previous songs "Decode" and "That's What You Get" have been able to reach, but that made me love the song even more because it wasn't overplayed and oversung everywhere.
Thanks for counting down with me all the way to #1! I will wrap things up on my next update with a recap, and present the winners of this year's year-end awards. For now, please give your thoughts about the top 2 and the Top 100 as a whole.
