He clearly watches the show and is a big fan of it. It's certainly not unreasonable to assume he's heard of the BIG controversy that played out for weeks surrounding the cast member's comments. And don't try the UK/US thing, because a quick google search shows it definitely was discussed in UK media, as well. Let alone the fact that this isn't an old controversy. The DD incident happened like a month ago. It is still very fresh on everyone's mind. I won't even get into the fact that instead of just apologizing for it, he is blatantly defending himself and attacking those who found a problem with his words, which just further proves he meant it to me.

Oh I definitely agree he's dumb, very dumb. I've said it myself. However, being dumb is much better than being a homophobe imo...
He watches it but how do you know he's a big fan ? Maybe he just watched one episode, enjoyed it, and decided to tweet the guy.
Even if it was discussed a bit in the media doesn't mean he saw it. They released a fricking album around the time of the controversy, it isn't unreasonable to think he didn't hear about it.
I do agree he shoudln't have reacted that way. However, you generally have two kinds of people when dealing with a controversy : those, overly sensitive, who then have some kind of meltdown, and those who are capable of taking a step back. Obviously, as the idiot he is, he's from the first category.
