2014 was the year when Charli XCX finally registered her first solo hit! The song that was taken from the OST of The Fault In Our Stars may be short but the quality of the song made up for it! “Boom Clap” highlighted Charli’s distinct voice even more! The song had impressive longevity on my list and deserved a place in this year’s top 10!
5SOS scores a top 10 hit this year with their follow-up to “She Looks So Perfect”! Just like the #10 song, “Don’t Stop” length is below 3 minutes but once again the quality of the song made up for it! By quality I mean it ‘s the type of song that will never get out of your head that every time it gets played on the radio, you have no choice but to sing along! Props to them for a very outstanding 2014!
LAST YEAR: JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE - Mirrors
FAVORITE COUNTRY SINGLE WINNER
After losing last year, Cassadee Pope is back to win my favorite country single of 2014 with "i Wish I Could Break Your Heart"! Definitely my favorite from “Frame By Frame”.
FAVORITE COLLABORATION WINNER
An explosive collaboration! Yes, the girls, Jessie J., Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj
grab my favorite team up of 2014 with “Bang Bang”!
Ella Henderson’s debut single goes straight to #8 on my year-end countdown! What a coincidence since this Ryan Tedder track made a similar run with “Counting Stars” last 2013, resurging to the top spot after dropping out for a few weeks. This song definitely deserved to be one of the biggest hits in UK in 2014 and hopefully will smash in the US the year after.
LAST YEAR: LAWSON – Standing In The Dark
#07 JESSIE J., ARIANA GRANDE & NICKI MINAJ – Bang Bang STATS: Weeks: 09 | Peak: 01 (2)
Favorite Collaboration winner makes an explosive appearance at #7 this year! With three of the biggest names of the music industry teaming up, there’s no doubt success is already in the bag. I believe “Bang Bang” is one of the most polarizing hits of 2014! But whether you love it or hate it, the song is still one of those which made a mark on the charts.
