Avril and Gaga are the two most successful artists in Asia at the moment and their fame is through the roof for international artists. I Wanna Go hitting #1 on the International Chart is meaningless, especially because, in actuality, it sold very little for the Korean market.

Asia operates completely different from the rest of the world in terms of the music industry, so reaching #1 on a chart =/= fame and success. Britney had success in Asia years ago but she's fallen off, and seeing as the Asian industry is one that artists have to continually work at to maintain relevancy in, she's not a big name.

Rihanna is def. not big in Asia. I visited a friend in China (Hong Kong) over the summer and we were talking about music with his friends one time and Rihanna's name came up. So I asked them if they liked her? Their faces went blank, so my friend said "black-forehead girl" in Chinese and they *somewhat* got who I was talking about .....anyways all I see in China/Hong Kong were billboards of BTW, but this was 3-4 months ago
