Arith's album review! I know I was a bit mean with Danity Kane, especially since I anticipated their album, but I listened too quickly and I changed my opinion. So after listening the hell out of B'Day, here's my official opinion.
Beyonce - B'Day
1. Déjà Vu (Featuring Jay-Z) - Alright, when "Deja Vu", I thought it was only OKAY. Nothing special. And after a few times listening, it sounded almost TOO similar to "Crazy In Love". But oh well. hopefully B'Day isn't filleriffic like "Dangerously In Love" Back on topic, this song has been done before and I really can't get into it like I was with "Crazy In Love". Also; Jay-Z's rap was not necessary. But it's not horrible.
7.5/10
2. Get Me Bodied - Ugh. What the fcuk is she talking about? Damn, this is really annoying but not the worst on the CD. the beat is so hot but the hook/refrain/pre-chorus (whatever she's gonna call it) really ruins the song. Some parts are hot, but this song is so all over the place it's not funny. The concept sounded hot but this didn't turn out too well. I can't remember, but is this Swizz Beatz? All his stuff sound alike.
6/10
3. Suga Mama - Haha. Is it me, or is it that Beyonce always does this one look where her face says "Want sum sugar frum momma?" Back on topic. I can't get into this song much. I won't deny, this song is great, but it's not my favorite song on B'Day.
7/10
4. Upgrade U (Featuring Jay-Z) - Hell yeaH! FINALLY a song I can get into. i know this won't be a single because she's already used the Jay-Z collab. Anyways dare I say this the one of the best songson B'Day. On first listen it was only okay, but since I'm a sucker for catchy bangers, this worked up on my list. Love this song.
8/10
5. Ring The Alarm - I'm definently feeling "Ring The Alarm". i have a Paul Wall remix but that'snot the point. Anyways, this is a great song on the album that I can repeatedly play. i love angry, Kelis-like shreiking. I love the raw emtion and everything so yeah <3
9/10
6. Kitty Kat - Alright. When Kitty Kat leaked originally, I really didn't like it at all. After a few listens and re-listening to the sorta-rap at the end of the song, I had a revalation: This is a HOT song. It was sorta annoying at first, but I definently got into it. I want a video for this cause I'm sure it would be sexy, and maybe she'd be in bra & panties (like I wanted in "Deja Vu" & "Ring The Alarm")
8.5/10
7. Freekum Dress - Just when B'Day is bulding up momentum for me, THIS is next. I hate this song so much words can't explain it. I mean; WHY?
Who's fukcing BRIGHT idea was to put THIS piece of hto **** on this album? I swaer; if yo listen to the lyrics of the song, it's basically a
INVITATION to motherfcuking
AIDS!!!!!!!!!!! At LEAST the beat is listenable. And some parts are okay.
5/10
8. Green Light - This is for me was gonna be B'Day's highlight. Well, not exactly. I DO love the song, but it can be repitive . Still, it's definently a hot song and if the timing was right, she might release this as a single? Maybe it's just my ignorance and liking the song speaking
Also, parts of this song are very similar to Britney Spear's "Boys (Remix)", which was produced by Pharell, who also produced "Green Light". I HATE it when producers re-cycle their own work.
8.5/10
9. Irreplaceable - 'Standing in the front yard, tellin me how I'm such a fool.....' I love this song so much <33333 and it's obvious that one point in time (like soon) that this has to and will be a single. Pop radio better eat this **** up.
9.5/10
10. Resentment - I don't care, Mazen. I LOVE this song and it's a good ballad. Even if it's NOT Beyonce's original song, and she didn't do the BEST job on it (Jasmine Sullivan did a WAY better job on this song; more soulful
). I feel like she's taking us to church <3
8/10
Overall Opinion: Though it has zero melody and I wasn't a big fan at first, the album turned out better than I was expecting after those clips leaked. And yes, I WILL be buying the album
