I really wanted to get into producing, but after hiring multiple people to teach me, I never seemed to understand anything and wasted tons of money trying to learn.
Now I'm looking into podcasting.

I wouldn't have paid someone to teach me how to do it when a simple look on YouTube could teach you everything.
Don't give up.

I did that at first, and it didn't work. I just couldn't grasp it.

I started about five or six years ago just playing around with garageband, but I got really serious about it two to three years ago. Now I feel like I'm at a professional level even though it sounds really d**chey. I grew a lot musically, tried different things, and just tried to do things in new ways, like a sweep, instead of just using white noise, I tried using the grid in logic, got clap samples, put them so close that it just sounded like noise, pitched it, up, added reverb and a high pass (I think?) filter cutoff and automated that, and it sounded like something that isn't really used in any music, but it fits in place of a typical sweep. It's kind of like I had the ability, but I really had to work on it and am working on it to make really good songs. Any other questions, I'll be glad to answer

How did you guys learn the ropes of producing?

Well, I went to a junior college to learn the basics of sound engineering and music theory…
From there, I used my experiences with music and songwriting to create most of the instrumentals I make…
It's all about learning your sound and developing it…
For me, I followed small tutorials to get an idea of how to create many different genres I found appealing…
After that, I started experimenting more and more until I found a groove…
You'll find yours. It's not going to happen overnight…

Did you find a job in music production? I was thinking about going to school for music production but I decided on something else for that reason. It's all about the craft and a lot of people do it without college. I'm sure you learn a lot by going to college for it tho.

If you have the drive, motivation, and natural talent (skill? kii) then I believe that you can 100% do it without college. Many producers have. Your success is just dependent on what you do, how good you are, and if it has mainstream appeal, etc.

You don't have to go to school to learn, but it makes you less dependent on trial and error and more dependent in your skills. Most who have the ear for it can achieve success; those with the ear and knowledge can achieve it easier.

Can you guys let me know which instrumental you prefer for mine & Hannah's next single.
#1 - https://youtu.be/5BMo9sUTgQo
- very pop, tropical influences and a dubstep break down (it doesn't sound good when wrote, but sounds decent)
#2 - https://youtu.be/_lWpUEEhoWM
-Tropical house, very mainstream atm, head multiple beat drops like the #1
I'm 15 so maybe bad compared to your guys standards

Best part of the song start at 2:45min, the baseline got more interesting (to me), because before that point I kinda felt like it was going nowhere. But again, this is purely about my taste, as much as production goes I couldn't say this was produced by an "amateur". Your production kinda reminds me of Tycho.

This is more the style of music I like but the production felt less polished than St Charles. In the first track, the lead sound (Not sure if it's synth or what) sounds bad like too raw I don't know if I'm explaining myself correctly... When the kind of flute comes in (kinda remind me of the flute used in What do you mean) it sounds PERFECT. The chorus is great too, but again that synth is too raw. The breakdown sounds messy (to me). Overall I loved it !
There's nothing wrong with the second track, but I just thought it was less interesting than the first.
I too would like to get into producing, and I tried with FL Studio, I have ideas but I just don't know how to actually "do" it I have never learned properly, and I'd like to learn but I feel like it's a bit overwhelming and I'd like to be guided through it Like should I learn about music theory first, where can I learn about it, etc
I did some production, but my problem was that I'd do a verse, a chorus, a bridge, and then I wouldn't know how to make every flow like the transitions between the verse, the chorus, so it always ended up sounding very messy

The melodic/pop beat is beautiful. I like the use of this kind of flute again.

I love the house beat but I can't imagine it with vocals..

Trying can only be beneficial ! It's not unheard of for unknown producers to go big
