They both did, as did Teenage Dream, Fearless and countless other major releases.

iTunes often either puts the album up for pre-order, or the artist does the countdown; I've never seen anyone get both. I also don't recall ever seeing an album get 4 countdown singles, so that's something that may be unique to Taylor.

Let's not take away credit. Digital countdown singles were a joke before Fearless and really, before Speak Now.

The only artists that have ever seemed to generate any real hype or success with countdown singles are Taylor, Gaga, and Bieber. And there's no doubt that Speak Now's campaign set the standard for Gaga's and Bieber's subsequent studio album releases, in my opinion.

Enrique's success isn't that surprising. It's been repressed such that it's coming out when it's already #15 on pop radio with 31 million audience impressions. We Are Never started at #18 with the Clear Channel deal and ended up with over 600k in first week sales.

The question is whether we can get 3 200k debuts in a week for the first time. Maaaybe even 4.

Wow it seems Taylors countdowns do the best followed by Gaga and Beiber. Never knew those other albums had countdowns
