The same for Troy Carter, like when she was talking about her managment and how he wanted her to look pretty and stuff, I was like, well DUH, what was she expecting. I know that for her that she's super rich and will probably never have money problems in her life ever again it doesn't matter, but there are a lot of people that are investing in her and with her that actually care about their money and how they invest it. Also lot of people and employees depend on her, it's not just about her.
She's taking too far her "artistic vision" imo. She can't expect her label fully support her if she has that mindset tbh. Nobody is going to waste their money so she can be the "artist" she wants to be.

There are a couple wrong things here. First of all, she actually said that without sponsors (corporations; essentially her record label) there would be no artist. In essence she is saying she doesn't need to be told how she should record her music. A record label exec shouldn't tell her how to write her songs or how to sound. You signed her for a reason, especially when Gaga was songwriting for them before she was writing for herself.
And she said she kept being told to look pretty, which annoyed her. I'm sure if anyone of us were in her position that would annoy the hell out of use. It is also kind of mind-f**king because it is like "am I not looking pretty"? Or "is there something wrong with the way I look"?
Imagine if you created a piece of work and you showed it to your label and they told you to rework it. You did what they ask and then when it was presented to the world it failed. It is not like she is dissing her label, because she already knows they support her, they signed her.

i don't see that happening. even if she were to leave interscope, all the other labels would be running after her + promising her everything and anything she wants, including creative control

"Brooklyn Nights" is a song written by Lady Gaga on September 18, 2010, when she was in Charlotte, North Carolina during the Monster Ball Tour. She talked about having written a new song and referenced it as "Charlotte Nights". Before she played "Yoü and I" at the show, she said "I did write another song today while I was here in North Carolina," which she called "An impressive and interesting place" because of an "adult shop" she visited where "the ****ography was staggering... Congratulations on your tripple-X stores!"

But that's the problem. She believes that her artistic vision is being compromised. And while I do think that she SHOULD compromise just a bit, who are we to say that it's because she's not selling as well or being on top. I think it's ridiculous that we think she can't express how she truly feels about her label unless she's selling tons of millions. She's stated more than enough in that interview and others ( on many occasions like Howard stern) that if she had to go back to performing on the streets she would. I truly don't believe she's lying when she says this. She even acknowledged the fact that she was successful because of pop music and that she hopes in some small way that she has helped changed it. Idk, as an aspiring musician myself, I feel inclined to sympathize with her. It's a damned if you do/damned if you don't business. And at the end of the day she only has herself to please. She set the tone for this whole era out on proving the critics wrong, and I think that was truly her biggest misstep. I've always wanted a pop star as raw and candid as she was for the keynote speech and I think all artist should be. That just my 2 cents though, I do agree that she wouldn't have bothered bringing up the sales/Katy perry if she was doing a lot better though.

This is why I'll never stop loving her despite her antics. Her music and talent is just too good.

What she said in the interview if I remember correctly is that record labels have no money and artists are being now sponsored by other companies (for example Doritos, Samsung, etc). Which just proves my point even further, do you think a company will support an artist just because they want them to succeed and express their art? Of course not, they will sponsor them if it's benefical for them too.
I'm not saying that Gaga needs to do whatever companies/record labels/management want, but she needs to be more self-concious, this is not like she's an indie artist with nothing to lose, both herself and the companies she works with put a lot of money and resources and I think that she's kind of forgetting that or thinking that her "artistic vision" is over all of that.
I can already see that when no major company wants to work with her and her label (with good reasons tbh) stop fully supporting her, she's going to blame everybody else but herself.

Yeah. I also think someone close to her said "there was a song meant for BTW that never came out that she's considering for ARTPOP". I'm pretty sure the version that leaked is the version linked to ARTPOP tho.

She's referring to indie artist/sponsorships that support festivals and indie artists themselves. Record labels don't support jack **** if it's not aboard some crazy trend. That's why she went off on her tangent about signing real songwriters that actually make music, not just artist who have tons of followers on twitter. She's speaking in general not about her own personal situation. Watch it again.

But, she probably thought she was big enough to be successful in spite of that, no matter what she put out. Possibly what motivated her to be musically polarizing with Born This Way as well.

It sucks but I think she truly wanted to make a record that both she and what she thought her fans would enjoy.

Anyways, I think she needs to be more self-concious about her current situation. If she wants to keep doing music the way she likes doing it (big performances, big tours, big shows, big videos ) she needs the help of her record label and companies that are not going to give her tons of money just she can be "an artist", they will want their money back and with proceeds. This just doesn't applies to the music industry, it applies to everything.
Also she needs to drop the Katy Perry shade, she seems really pressed even is she says she's not.

I agree with Ramos. She likes a large, grand scale for all of her work. She needs a label to support these types of endeavors. She can't be grandiose like she is on a small budget.
