The reaction so far reminds me of how people reacted to "Born this Way".

Yes this is kind of basic, it's not some revolutionary pop song but what did you expect from Dr. Luke/Benny Blanco/kesha? She's never done revolutionary. This is a nice evolution for her, it's electro pop but not in the video game synth style of her first hits.
