This is exactly what I thought. I think they are just writing together. Collaborations in pop music are typically between a rapper on the verses with the female vocalist on the chorus, which ultimately makes the song memorable. I don't know how they could make a successful arrangement for two females on the track, especially when they both sing. It's been done before obviously, but it doesn't happen often.
