Cuban-Americans are no longer 'reliably Republican'
Perhaps nowhere in Florida is the state more divided than Cuban-American families. For years, the Cuban-American community was reliably Republican. Senator Rubio is a poster child of that strong voting bloc. Many of these voters fled Cuba for the U.S. and shunned anything that looked remotely like socialism in America.
But their children and grandchildren are not as tied to the GOP: 44% now lean democratic, twice as many as in 2002, according to Pew Research.
CNNMoney spent the evening with four generations of the Garcia family in their ranch-style home in the Orlando suburbs. A map of Cuba hangs prominently in their TV room above the couch.
Miguel and Maria Garcia -- also known as "grandpa" and "grandma" -- were born in Cuba but fled to the United States in the 1960s. They call themselves independents, but they have traditionally gone Republican.
"I honestly don't trust [Hillary]," Maria Garcia told CNNMoney on a couch surrounded by her children and grandchildren. "My problem is...Cuba is a communist country. Anything that turns a little bit to the left, I have a problem with that."
Maria Garcia's two grown daughters, however, have a very different view of politics and this election. They are enthusiastic supporters of Clinton.
"My mom thinks Democrats are Communists, We're like one step away from being Communist when there's a Democratic administration," Carmen, one of the daughters, jokes.

Cubans are no bigger threat than they were in 2012. The Embargo wasn't doing its job anymore anyway.

Cuban youth probably helped Hillary a lot in the primary.

I just realised my grandmother's birthday falls on the day when America will meet their first female president! I'm jealous of her

Wait, just realized Cubans couldn't even give the primary to Rubio. Yeah they're no threat

How bout u work extra hard to make a name for yourself and your family, only for the government to take it all away and give it to some broke communist supporter. And because u oppose the regime either have to flea, anyway u can, or be sent to jail, and in some cases, be killed.
Or how about if your gay? What if you tested positive for HIV? Oh no u can't live with people on the island, you have to be sent to concentration camp style jails to live the rest of your life.
I've had family jailed and killed by the Castro regime, so your comments are very insensitive
Every time we trust a democrat , they **** us over. If it's not Bay of Pigs, it's wet foot dry foot policy, if not it's sending a five year old boy back to Cuba as a poster boy for a Cuban victory against the Evil Gringos
Trust we would've stayed on our island if we wasn't forced to leave. Privliged my ass. We come here with bachelor degrees in medicine, business, law, etc and the US doesn't recognize them and have to start from 0 here. We are very grateful to the US, don't ever get dat twisted, we work hard, we pay our taxes.
I for one am not voting for Trump, but my parents and grandparents are and it is what is.

All the immigrants have to start from nothing when they leave their countries, the difference is you guys get an advantage no other Latino group gets which is automatic amnesty as soon as you get here. Btw a lot of Latinos don't choose to leave their countries also, they leave because of violence like in El Salvador, terrible government like in Venezuela.
So please, admit that you guys get a privilege that none of us Latinos from the mainland get.
And then when you guys get here you want to act superior to the rest of us.

As long as she holds the blue states she has she wins. I'm nervous about CO but people have said the unaffiliated leans blue that's good. Idc about Florida, NC, etc if she can hold hers

White Cubans are the most racist Latino group or at least one of the most. They don't get the Latino immigrant experience and arent empathetic to it as they basically get free amnesty just for stepping land. That's why they are mostly Trump fans from what I see. I hope I'm wrong.

White Cubans have no excuse. If white Puerto Ricans, who are legally born citizens whether they are born in the island or not can come through for democrats and Hillary, then the Cubans have no excuse just because of their immigrant experiences

I know for a fact that there's at least a few ballot measures up for voting this year but I can only find very little information on them

Check out your biggest local newspaper's website. I also believe NPR does something similar, if they have a "branch" in your state.

Yes, I am heartbroken, I am angry, I am defeated, but I will rise and continue to advocate for you, for my people, for those that don’t have a voice. But I refuse to be a pawn, a conduit of their oppression, of their disenfranchisement, of their brutalization, of their exploitation, of their lives and deaths. That’s what a Hillary Clinton endorsement means to me.

The way he's taking this so seriously you'd think he's announcing going to war with HRC

Why do white liberals always feel like they have to speak on behalf of everyone else? It's so arrogant and patronising.

I was talking with someone yesterday who was saying that New York was in play and Trump is going to win there.
Like, seriously... where the hell do some people get their information?
