I don't think I'd ever be able to shoot someone, even if they broke into my house. Just can't imagine it.
There needs to be something done about our gun laws. How can we just let this continue to happen?

We can start by doing common sense legislative moves like fixing the gunshow loophole at a national level. But, gun-lovers are so sensitive about their guns and don't see a problem with it. Until that happens, or until Democrats once again have a majority in Congress, then I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Lets hope that in November we finally have a Democrat majority again. It would be a great moment for Hillary Clinton if she wins the presidency to pass gun control laws in her first 100 days in office.

At this point, I'm convinced Civil Part Part II would break out if that ever happens. Guns are the new slaves for most southerners and rednecks.

Trump seems to be doubling down on his Muslim ban, so that's good news for Dems

Nah, the Civil War didn't take place over slaves.

That's called fight or flight. The fighters may die, the flighters WILL die.

Even if we don't get back the House, if we get the Senate and Hillary's President then we'll get a liberal majority at the Supreme Court. One case from those wanting more gun restrictions and boom, the Court upholds the tough gun laws and liberals win.

Well, and I don't believe we need to take every gun away from gun owners. But just make things a bit stricter. Make sure if you've ever been on a terrorist watch list, a no fly list, a sex offenders list, or have been convicted of a violet crime that you can't get a gun. Ban military assault style weapons. Let everyone keep their hand guns and their shot guns.

TimberWolf, been meaning to ask: who will you vote for? Will you go third party, leave it blank or write in?

Bernie was my top candidate, and I preferred Trump among the Republicans at the beginning because he seemed more moderate. I consider myself to be independent for the most part.
Now, I'm honestly undecided. Even without the controversial statements, Trump has raised red flag after red flag for me, especially with him attacking the judiciary and not listening to his advisers. At the same time, Hillary keeps being exposed with corruption and lying about her work in the government. I also don't like her record on a lot of issues, particularly on economic and foreign policy. I don't like Libertarian economic policy. Green, I haven't looked at much.

If you're not opposed to being that far Left, then I think Jill would be your choice. She's agreed with Bernie on more things than not...I think. At least that's what TYT wants people to believe and jump on once Bernie concedes

Sorry if it offended anyone.

Trump's main advisers seem to be really toxic and dumb. On their twitter you can see them attacking other Republicans and posting things like "TRUMP WILL NEVER CHANGE". It's really weird and creepy.

I would dispute this as I think that slavery actually did have a huge part in the initiation of the Civil War, despite the common assertion that only inaccurate high school history textbooks say that, but I don't believe we'd be in danger of a major conflict if Hillary signed gun control legislation so I won't argue that right now.
I worry that some lunatic may try to make a point by harming her if such legislation comes to pass, but as with the post a few days ago about Obama, I don't believe that such an event is truly a danger to her with the protection that is afforded to a President.
I would absolutely love if we got a majority in the Senate and I'm actually still hopeful about the House to some extent, and I would love if some of the first 100 days legislation was gun control reform.

If someone didn't kill Obama yet over stuff like gay marriage then it's not happening.
I mean of course there are people who plot, but that won't stop her. She's in danger even now like every politician.

Or, people will find other forms of weapons of mass destruction. DIY bombs, for example. It's extremely easy to plug in .Tor and search guns through the dark web. I've visited it a couple of times, and trust me. It's that easy, and it's that easy to stay anonymous and untraced.
The root of the problem is immigration, most of it. But I'd argue that it's incompetence in homeland security, considering that the perpetrator was a US citizen(?) I heard that he was in the FBI watch list for sometime now, and that he has been interviewed by the FBI with no compelling evidence to prompt any further actions. BUT if they had been more vigilant about him, they could have found at least some sort of a smoking gun to capture him, detain him and even prosecute him for terrorist agendas before this all could have happened.
But sadly, I have the unpopular opinion in this forum, and especially that I am a Trump supporter, I am expecting a lashing from you guys because of my opinions and who I support.

The entire idea of a revolt or secession with a Hillary Clinton presidency over guns is just a bit out there, to me. I also don't see Hillary Clinton being in anymore threat of an assassination than Trump, if we're being honest here.
This discussion has gotten... really strange...
