Tegan Quin covers American Girl, video goes viral
Tegan Quin from Tegan and Sara just took to Twitter to post an acoustic cover she did of Bonnie McKee's 'American Girl', titled Canadian Girl.
In an accompanying post on the band's Tumblr, she explained:
"I sort of have a history with this song.. if you know what I mean. The people at TMZ certainly do, and ever since I read that article I kinda wanted to do this. I just never had the time to sit down and properly work on it until today.
I love this song and I love Canada and being Canadian, so it's all in good fun. I just felt like making a silly video. Thanks again, TMZ, for the inspiration."
Tegan is referring to an article written about her appearance at Selena Gomez's birthday party last month, where she was spotted dancing on a table and singing along to 'American Girl'. TMZ commented asking whether Tegan had been so drunk that she forgot she was actually a Canadian girl.
The video features her playing the song on acoustic guitar with the lyrics re-written to make fun of Canadian stereotypes, taking the ironic tone of the original song one step further.

Tegan and Sara release new merch
Four days after the release of their new album Shipwrecked, Tegan and Sara have released some new merch items onto their webstore. The update features a t-shirt (men's & women's, US$ 25 each), a hoodie (men's & women's, US$ 40 each) as well as two tote bags (US$ 15 each).
 
 
All items will also be available to buy on their upcoming tour with Justin Bieber, which kicks off this Tuesday.
Their album Shipwrecked is out now.

Katy Perry Performs At Killer Queen Launch
Katy Perry performed at her perfume launch last night, and performed 3 songs (no h8 since you guys only got to perform 2 please  ) She started off with her hit Perfect Memory, when RIhanna joined the stage and performed Turn The Lights Out with great chemistry as usual. Then, Katy said she'd perform a new track off of the album, and introduced her on and off boyfriend, John Mayer who has done a duet on her new album, named My Better Half. It was a slow/mid tempo track, and you could feel the love from them. She then hugged him once the song ended and they left the stage hand in hand.
