Listen, whilst I wanted to remain, some of you really need more faith in our country. Trust me, there are professionals sat around a table at this very moment coming up with the best strategy on how to handle this situation best for the country. The UK has got way too big of an economy for the EU to make 'an example of', and they're certainly not strong enough to create friction between the UK and the EU, because the EU would plunge into a highly volatile situation as well (more than they already are). What the EU won't want to do is test the UK. The UK has always risen throughout history and it will rise once again. The EU would not even think to try us like that.

The focus right now should be on stabilising the economy, and making sure we have the best PM elected to handle the negotiations with the EU and other countries in the future. Anyone but Boris, please.

Yes I think that is by far the best thing they can do to scare other countries, bullying us with trade or whatever is just going to make right wing people angry and prove their point, but making it easy for the UK to break up by being friendly with Scotland will scare other countries without making the EU look bad.

We wanted out and don't care if Scotland are affiliated with us or the EU.

I am happy i voted out I'm not regretting it, the people that remained are from the city and not the small towns so they don't see an issues with our country, 2 nhs A&E have closed in my area and the ones remaining are failing, I didn't base my vote on immigration but the fact our money isn't going to ourselves but other EU countries that haven't helped us when we got flooded, good bye EU, it be bad at first for us but we will survive and rule again .

this is the problem with politics. as demonstrated here, you can't win with facts, but rather wishy-washy fantasies about us leaving the eu and suddenly restoring the victorian british empire, reinvigorating our national identity or just generally making britain 'great' again (whatever the **** 'great' means). it's just so disheartening to see these things being decided on such a huge culture of anti-intellectualism.

there aren't, though. just watch the news, the whole country doesn't know what the **** is going on. cameron isn't going to do anything, and the most vocal leave campaigners are still in shock of their own success, having dedicated all their energy to simply winning the referendum without actually considering what their plans would be.

i mean, we threw this wonderful opportunity right back in the face of the eu so it won't be an amicable divorce.

what's more, if we have a successful exit this will only encourage other countries to hold their own referendums. this is especially dangerous in france with the rise of the front national (who are already toying with the idea of a frexit) who are (now) one of the two remaining large powers in the eu. germany definitely do not want to see france leave.

third, an easy exit is just not possible. people still don't know how exactly we're going to disentangle our legal system after having grown and evolved with the eu for forty years.

This petition thing is kinda stupid, it may have worked if they removed the turnout and lowered the percentage to like 55% but still.

Politicians don't seem to care for it, so.

i mean...i have to believe that the government has some kind of plan in the works? i know they wouldn't put the entire country's economy in the hands of people voting based off of obvious emotion and ignorance without discussing the risks?


that being said, they need to give us a 2nd referendum asap, even if we look stupid running back to them with our tails between our legs. pride comes before the fall after all.

The European Commission might not want a nice exit for Britain, but European governments have been a bit more conciliatory. That is one of the problems with the EU - the Commission should be an extension of European governments and represent its members, it should not act independently as its own body.

There are people devising strategies and negotiation plans, we just don't see them. Stop worrying. We will be fine. Whilst it's a sad situation, our country will get past this and our economy will stabilise.

Don't confuse 'we' with 'I'.

Also note that while the Commission would no doubt like us to suffer after leaving, it will be individual European governments that will have the final say. And most of them have been using the vote to show how the EU needs to reform. They will want a good deal with us in order to stabilise their own economies. If the European economy starts to flounder it will be their jobs that are on the line, not the Commissioners'.

I am not really familiar with the current relations between Scotland, Nothern Ireland and England (I don't include Wales since nobody seems to care about it anyway, so neither will I), but since the Scots have basically remained in the UK because they wanted to be a part of the EU, aren't the English voters telling them:

we don't care about you. leave if you want and yes, we want to reduce the territory of the country we live in.


Is that correct?
