Nicole... didn't really... The song she performed was never even released to iTunes, because Interscope is a horrid label. But there was no reason she couldn't have milked it and gotten "Don't Hold Your Breath" to be a hit.
Interscope's been improving slightly since then, seeing as they now have Carly and Psy on their rosters. But the way they treat their veteran acts is appalling. It won't be long before Gaga gets the same treatment that 50 Cent, Nelly Furtado and Nicole Sherzinger (among others) have gotten.
But that's with any label. They always treat their veterans like **** so that their new blood can slay. Look at how Columbia acted with Beyonce's entire 4 era. Canceling Love On Top as a single after the VMA performance...

And of course, the horror stories surrounding RCA and (most especially) Hollywood Records.
