This mysterious image Black Pink has would work if they were in virtually any other country. But k-pop is heavily fan driven and I don't see them developing a large fandom off of performances alone. They need to start promoting on more shows ASAP or the track will die down.
!!
I am so bitter, being everywhere benefited GFriend and TWICE so much
Your points, in order:
1. It's the digital market they're aiming for, which is generating a good amount of profit overseas. Enough for it to continue. Plus, it's opening doors for artists unknown outside of SM to showcase their contribution to tge music scene.
2. EDM is literally the backbone for nearly every song out nowadays. It's the ongoing trend across the world, so maybe they're aiming for a bigger market outside of South Korea.
3. This I agree with. I have no idea what this group is supposed to represent, but it has confused me, none of the singles have captured my full attention, and this rotation system would only work if we knew ALL of the members, instead of guessing.
4. This is purely fanbased. For years, K-Pop has been seen as a puppet master forcing these beautiful idols to dance and sing for the public. These projects make them more than idols, but artists for once. Solos allow the "idol artists" to express their individual style rather than contribute more to the puppetry.
So, all-in-all, it's a risk, but I feel SM knew it would be a polarizing experience from the get-go. By next year, SM will more than solidify their staying power!
You make good points. Its an interesting position to be in as a fan - I've immensely enjoyed a lot of their output this year, but the success has largely been confined to the fanbases. With one flop digital song after another I wonder about the impact on future releases, whether they'll retreat to a more commercially viable K-poppy sound next year that I probably won't like as much.

I don't know why they didn't make Krystal record over Jessica's parts and make it into a solo release.
Don't even need to do waste money doing that, just release the music and have Krystal pretend its her the whole song the GP won't notice and we'll get superior Jessica vocals
I don't mind LDN Noise producing for SM, since they can do more than just house music, it's just SM wanting to push EDM this year for some reason.

Is Secret LDN Noise because I wouldn't mind them producing SNSD next album with similar bops
I don't know is this is LDN I'll try to find it if I can.
There was this thing going around (not sure if this is legit or not, I'm still trying to find the source for this picture). Either that picture was for Secret or a future SNSD song.

But we do know all the members, there's 15 of them in NCT as a whole. The real problem I got with this concept is the possibility of adding new ones as SM gets more trainees which is just dumb because a) the group will have no recognition and this kind of personal connection that is VERY important for kpop fans and it just naturally can't exist in a group of 20+ members, b) who will be in the next BG if all the trainess are added to NCT as their debut?
It works for SM tho cause they could continuously release things without having to stop so that the members could actually rest...
NCT has been a total failure so far, literally zero impact or public recognition.
They should just make a fixed group, and forget about these units. It's tiring and does not allow a healthy fanbase to form. Being from SM saved them from complete tanking (aka it gave them album sales)
And now this NCT Dream with all the baby trainees... Seems more of SmRookies promo than a real group.
