It's ridiculous the way the media is trying to put him in a box just to put a sociopolitical spin on things. Atheists can be anything but believe in God, even be spiritual. Spirituality does not necessarily entail belief in the supernatural. Plus there are many different types of atheists. Spiritual atheists indeed exist like Sam Harris who follows his own version of Buddhism. To them spirituality is just a state of mind. Atheists can also follow religious philosophies only rejecting their supernatural elements.
The man committed an unnoficial and unauthorised act of violence. In the process of doing so, he made a point of asking the religions of those victims, in an obvious persuit of his own political aim.
It doesn't need to be encouraged by a singular atheistic belief, and drawing that comparison between whether religion does is a whole other debate; something with which I'm sure we would disagree wholeheartedly on.
As an agnostic with no desire to follow any one religion, I just think it's ridiculous to blame religion for terroristic atrocities. There's much more to it than that.

And I couldn't disagree more on your last point. Religion, whether you like it or not, is one of the main things that divide the world.
Seriously, terrorism isn't any more a religious thing than an atheist one.
You can't blame Muslims for 9/11, you can't blame all atheists for this shooting, you can't blame all Christians for everything that goes wrong.
It's an awful thing which happened, but an effective demonstration that there are crazy people in all sects of society.

I'm deeply disgusted over this event, but I'm just tired of each and every one of these tragedies just being a show for everyone. It always happens and it never gets anything done. If gun control ever does work here in America, the next shooting will just be a "GUN CONTROL DOESN'T WORK!!!11!1!1!1" political show. Okay? Calm down for once.

What? :skull Spirituality is a belief in a higher power, but not any defined one like God or any Hindu god, etc. It has nothing to do with organized religion is what you might be getting at.
Yeah, I meant that spirituality doesn't have ANYTHING to do with organized religion and doesn't even necessarily have to do with belief in a higher power. One can be highly spiritual and believe that all living things, trees, animals, humans, etc have spirits and forces within them, absent whether or not they believe in a god or supreme being.
