Great song and amazing visuals. Probably one of the best videos of 2015. But not gonna lie, I'm shocked at the overwhelming positive response from the GP...
It's not even about the nudity or the drugs (Trust me, I'm all for it, since she's not anybody's parent and blah blah blah). It's about how desensitized is our generation when it comes to violence.
Rihanna - a former victim of domestic violence - just showed a woman being stripped, drugged, gagged, abused and hung from the ceiling and it's getting praised for it. And miss me with the 'bu-but-t she's still a feminism! fierce! empowering!1' ******** . This is wrong and y'all know it damn well.
If glamorizing physical abuse against other women it's what it takes to be a 'bad bitch ;]' and get a Top 10 on Itunes these days, then how the mighty have fallen . But then again, none of her attention-seeking peers would stop this low (not even GaGa, Miley or Nicki. Ok...maybe Nicki).
Tasteless. But she always gets away with it. ATRL is too busy pretending to be offended by videos like "All About That Bass" and "Blurred Lines" to realize how problematic Rihanna truly is .
The difference is that it was Rihanna and her 2 female sidekicks doing it, not a man. There's much more problematic displays of violence happening on tv every week. Chill
Ariana literally has no good videos, please go have several seats.
The storyline is pretty simple if you don't get it maybe you should work on your comprehension skills.
@ u breaking it down for them. They're pretty stupid ngl

Well, she is a bad bitch, and what's your problem? She also kills a man on the video, sure that doesn't bug you at all, right?
I'm torn. I really do see eye to eye with you for the most part, but personally I just don't think we should bring up Rihanna's past experiences with domestic violence and say she has to act a certain way because of it.
Agreed. Her past shouldn't dictate how she makes her art or her vision for it. Lastly, it's entertainment America in particular entertains far worse foolishness on reality TV and nobody bats an eyelash.

She's not a victim. She's a survivor. She's taken ownership of that and refuses to make that an * against her. Its brave.

Miley Cyrus? The 21-year girl who swung naked from a mechanical ball a few years ago, not stooping low? I don't even need to address Gaga. Honestly, Nicki is the tamest of the three, in terms of "attention-seeking".

!!!
It's not our job to tell her how to behave just because she's had an experience with domestic violence. She didn't ask to be hit by Chris, and she certainly hasn't asked to be held to some high moral standard because of it. Let her live the way she wants to. She's doing great.
Also @wildcat nice to see out of ALL of the pop stars today including Gaga, who stripped butt naked and made an ENTIRE 4m long video about it, only Nicki is cited as being so 'low' as to do the same when she has NEVER got her nips out. Ever.

Seriously? When you support her?
After the Diane Sawyer interview in 2009 followed by the Cake remix, no one should take Rihanna seriously as a role model anymore or act surprised if she contradicts herself or does something hypocritical. Like you said, the video is well made. That's what matters.

here is where you are wrong...
rihanna and chris brown's incident wasn't meant to be a big deal, rihanna never said she regrets it really or anything. in fact she said that it's nobody's business. i don't think rihanna wants to be a role model or anything... she is not being hypocritical because its WE THE PEOPLE who threw her into the spotlight of being a role model for abused women, which is not the case.
