"Voodoo Child" was on my list, but I love "The Sign", "Black or White", "The Message" and "I Will Survive". I'm pretty sure "Rapper's Delight" is in the top 100. I mean, how is it not?
I actually just finished making my own personal 100 Greatest Songs of All Time... I'm thinking on how I want to share that with you all.
That is going to be FANTASTIC. Cannot wait.
And speaking of top 100 lists, let's get to the first set. Against all odds, we're getting it posted today! Let's start with songs 100 through 96.

One of my personal favorite Queen songs (and the ultimate showcase of Freddie Mercury's incredible vocals) kicks off the list at #100. Thankfully, this is not even close to the last Queen song. There are three Queen songs higher up on the list. Even still, not even those songs can match Freddie's passion in this song. I'd go as far as to call it one of the single greatest vocal performances in any song.

While I've never been the biggest fan of this song, there's no denying that there's a TON of compassion and power within this song and the anything-but-tiny vocals of Sinéad O'Connor. They just don't make songs like this one anymore. Granted, I could say that about most songs on this list...BUT STILL!

To this day, this is my favorite Aerosmith song, and it seems as if they have tried to live up to this song for 40 years and failed. They will never, EVER reach the musical greatness of the chorus and the ending sequence again, no matter how hard they try. And screw you, Danny Gokey, for nearly ruining my enjoyment of this song with THIS:

Undoubtedly one of the most socially important songs in the history of recorded music, "A Change Is Gonna Come" remains just as powerful today as it was 50 years ago. If you do not get chills when listening to this song at least once, you may want to check to see if you have a pulse.

The first of three Jagged Little Pill singles to crack the top 100, "You Learn" was the third single released from that same album to reach the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, and it was also a #1 airplay hit for Alanis. This song doesn't quite stick out to me as much as the other two singles to make this list of hers, but it's still a nice piece of pop that is not around as much as it should be anymore.
Next time: Songs 95-91! Here are a few tidbits/hints about those five songs:
- All but one of the songs was released in the 90's. The other was released in the 80's.
- Three of the 90's artists are making their only appearance in this set. The other two artists will make at least one more appearance after this coming set.
- One of the three artists making their only appearance is one that will surprise some.
- Another artist making their only appearance had their song released as a single from a movie soundtrack.
- Located in this set may very well be one of my personal favorite songs of the 90's. It was also a Billboard smash hit.
I'm hopeful to get this set up tomorrow...so, um, here's to hoping!
None I voted for, but those are definitely classics. I hope Alanis makes an appearance with "Head Over Feet" which came very close, but I didn't include in my votes, sadly.
I'm hoping that the "surprise" artist from the 90s will be a certain boy band who I included on my ballot (though they'd be higher, if it were up to me).
A great way to kick off the list! All of these songs are awesome. "A Change is Gonna Come" should definitely be higher, though.
And I say this as a huge Alanis fan, but knowing she has three songs on the list makes me a little worried. I presume the other two are "Ironic" (which I almost voted for) and "You Oughta Know." I love them both (as well as "You Learn"), but that seems perhaps excessive considering her overall contributions to music.

I agree completely..... I mean Jagged Little Pill is a classic, but 3 songs from it is a bit
