"Cherish" was written by Madonna while she was reading Romeo and Juliet. It was released as the third single off Like a Prayer, with "Supernatural" (which is awesome, by the way - if you still haven't, listen to it!), as its B-side.
The song was successful, in general - it peaked at #2 in the US and #3 in the UK, achieving good spots at other countries, too.
The only tour where she performed it live was the Blond Ambition.
The video is very fun and light-hearted, featuring Madonna singing and dancing by the beach, and some mermen appear, and she plays with some merboys, well, it's cool.
I've never been a big fan of this song, to be honest - 7 from me.

When Madonna was making Bedtime Stories, at the same time she wanted to cover soul and R&B music, she was also interested in the European electronic scene - so she hired the producer Nellee Hooper. Then Björk was asked to write a song for Madonna, and she accepted it. She has already said that it was an honor to do it.
The song was released as the third single off Bedtime Stories. It was not very successful, peaking at #42 in the US and having similar positions in many countries. However, it reached #4 in the UK (I wonder how, because I don't see any commercial potential on this song).
It was performed live just once, at the 1995 Brit Awards. It was used as a video interlude for the Re-Invention Tour, also.
The video portrays... hmm... err... you should watch it for yourself. There are many things to see on it. It was directed by Mark Romanek and it's one of the most expensive videos of all time. Widely praised by critics, it's to this day still kept in the New York Museum of Modern Art.
"Bedtime Story", for me, is some kind of hint of what was to come next for Madonna (Ray of Light), and what made her even more interested in this kind of music. Indeed a great song, 8.5 from me.
Oh, and it's almost obligatory to hear "Sanctuary" and "Bedtime Story" in sequence. Heavenly experience.
