20. Timbaland f/ OneRepublic - Apologize
"And I need you like a heart needs a beat, but it's nothing new..."
Altough OneRepublic's album version is better, I had to include Timbaland because he is the one that made the song famous and gave OneRepublic the exposure they needed. In other words this track is a OneRepublic record remixed by Timbaland. Ryan Tedder's vocals are perfect and so is the extraordinatry production by Timbaland. The song is very melancholic but the melody makes the song get stuck in your head. Apologize is easily one of most beautiful pop ballads of the year.
19. Amy Winehouse - Rehab
"It’s not just my pride, it’s just til these tears have dried..."
Rehab is Amy Winehouse's breakthough single in the US. Only Amy Winehouse can make a song about a personal thing like rehab, fun and catchy. Her vocals are unique and make you feel a vibe of an early pop sound. Her attitude is perfect and the lyrics are infectious, after listening to the song you'll find yourself singing along to the catchy chorus. Ironically, rehab is what Amy needs the most right now, and hopefully she does something about her messy life so she can get back in the studio next year.
