A VA landfall would be catastrophic. They're already getting a lot of rain this week, and with the storm surge pushing into the Chesapeake Bay and into the rivers of VA. DC and Alexandria lie on the Potomac River, Richmond lies on the James River and Norfolk/VA Beach are on the coastline.
Not to mention that there will be impacts felt up in PA and NY as there'll still be a lot of rainfall plus a lot of coastal flooding.
Though I've seen some speculation that it could be coming closer to what the Euro, though alone, has been saying for all along and move out to sea.
