Um, I think my point is rather clear and it's been echoed by many throughout this thread so it's hardly like I'm the only one thinking it.
Donating money is not typically in itself "raising awareness." Usually when people donate money for awareness, it's to awareness campaigns who'll later use the money to advertise and educate on the issue. Yes, Taylor's donation is a very nice gesture and it will garner attention, but I disagree that some impassioned words on the topic wouldn't have the same or greater of an effect, especially considering this is from the same person who (supposedly) managed to sway the biggest corporation on Earth into changing a major policy regarding how they compensate their artists, all with a Tumblr post. A similar post could still be on its way and I hope it is, but from the headlines I've seen so far, the story's been diverted from one about Kesha's bind with Sony to one about Taylor's altruism and Kesha's impoverishedness.
Throwing money at the problem just seems like such an awfully facile and 1%-y solution to Kesha's issues, especially when Kesha herself is hardly living in squalor.
It's very disgusting of y'all to turn her act of kindness into it being a PR-driven kind of act. Yes she didn't have to donate at all, just tweet some 140-words on social media that will be forgotten 2-3 days later but I'm sure as hell Kesha needs some monetary help as it's not cheap to hire a lawyer especially a good one. Plus it's Taylor's damn money, who the hell cares how she spends her money. It's funny tho that people are fuming at Taylor for donating out of her freewill. Y'all can stay being lesser tho as long as Kesha is benefitting from this kind act
So Taylor give Kesha money because she thinks that Kesha is so poor now that she turned into a charity or what? Another PR move by Taylor but this time I don't really get the point of it. It'd be better if Taylor just said something on Twitter if she wanted to show Kesha support... Giving 250k$ to her is just off.
This is beyond stupid.
PR or not it doesn't matter but that money surely will help Kesha.
Please go somewhere else and throw your hatred there.
if only people were so passionate and advocate about the faceless ones that are neither seen, nor heard, nor noticed, nor popular by any means like they are with Kesha and her issue. It makes me truly mad to think one would 'donate' a quarter million dollars to a single individual when one could potentially do so so much with that much in many other places.
Sickening world we live in proven once again.
im sorry, but who the eff at your exactly to tell how Taylor should spend her money? who are you?? if you are this upset about the faceless victims, go and start an organization bitch. why are you so pressed that Taylor decided to give money to Ke$ha? Is she taking money out of your pocket? you are just a sad pressed individual. keep seething because Taylor actually donated money to Ke$ha and two other ppl who are faceless this week. sounds like a stupid reason to be pressed about isn't it?

Instead of singling out one post of mine, you should at least take the time to read through the thread, because I clearly stated why I have an issue with the way this was handled. Shouldn't be too much to ask for, should it?
People are looking at this at face value and it's kind of gross. You donate money to a shelter that helps rape victims, not to the rape victim themselves. This isn't an issue you can throw money at and be like, "welp, I did my part". Kesha doesn't need money, she needs public support to help her and other girls who may be suffering from the same thing.
Taylor believes that money fixes everything but it doesn't, especially not something like this.
