But the music itself is more interesting than anything else the pop girls have released in a long time. It's clear that the critics are getting way too wrapped up in this Chris Brown stuff to think objectively.
So true.

Well, just like you have your opinion. They have theirs. All opinions should be respected, not dissected.
However, if you halfway acknowledge that the album is as you call it "somewhat schizo..." do you think that other people that are not huge fans and are objective are going to respond positively to that.
I have purchased all of her albums and I'm underwhelmed as a whole. What I love is that she really is bringing it with these mid tempo/ballads. I just played stay in the car while going to the store and I pray that goes #1. The uptempos seem regressive when I think about how things progressed from loud to talk that talk. WHen ppl look at the album as a whole, it can easily seem disjointed and out of order.
Talk that talk didn't have a strong replay value in my car but I felt it was cohesive at least the first 12 tracks.
That said, I'm not surprised with the score and considering that she keeps collaborating with C. Brown and writing songs that seem implicitly about him makes it fair game to bring him up.
I really do hope that she can win a grammy for Stay because all of her grammy's have been uptempo and the saving factor for me is her improvement in her ballad style songs.
