Hi guys, I've been wanting to get into K-Pop for a while now.
Which bands/artists should I get into first?
Hi!
Basically your best bet is probably f(x), all bias aside. They're pretty much universally loved and songs like Electric Shock, NU ABO, and Hot Summer are absolute classics.
What @ Kris's OST song. Yoona her ghost vocal has a friend.
And yeah, the whole designated rapper thing is beyond stupid. Like, the amount that SHINee leveled up after SM realized that Key was a better singer than a rapper Same with f(x) and Amber. It's especially bad for INFINITE cause Hoya and Dongwoo are actually their two next-best vocalists after Sunggyu and Woohyun, with the exclusion of L who only recently got a lot better.
Hoya and dongwoo are just too multi talented.
They can sing, rap and dance.
Like i said before, INFINITE would be of no difference without the other two members who gotten 2 lines in their songs. Poor sungjong and sungyeol, still getting only 2 lines in Back.
Dongwoo is also getting less lines nowadays.. it is like Sunggyu, woohyun and hoya feats the rest.

We so think alike. I sent him f(x) on his wall.
He likes R&B too so TVXQs latest release was an obvious choice.

Depends on what is your preference.
If you are looking for quality songs with hiphop and rnb influences, check BigBang and 2NE1.
If you're looking for edgy stuff, check f(x).
If you're looking for easy to follow typical kpop songs, check Apink, SNSD, Beast
If youre looking for hip hop boy groups-BAP, BTS
Recommnedation: 2ne1, Big bang, Infinite, B2st and BAP. They really have good overall discography. Especially big bangand 2ne1, almost every single song of their albums is good.

Wasn't until I thought about it that I realised what a good choice it is, since there's no one that actually dislikes them, and their music is so easy to listen to.
You wouldn't be far off with the likes of Mirotic either, but I guess it depends on how much he digs more retro-sounding stuff.
It's hardly just SM that do it. Woollim have been paying Dongwoo dust for years. It's a "designated rapper" thing.
But dongwoo is the lead dancer too.
The group already has two main vocal, another lead vocal supposedly (L) ... and hoya is better than dongwoo..
But yea, woolim has been paying him dust. He only gotten one verse and two talking lines in Back. Thats about the same amount of line with sungyeol and sungjong.
As usual, Sunggyu and woohyun got most around 65%. Then hoya and L take 70% of the remaining pie and the remaining is shared by the other three

PS: I remember the days when I was discovering KPop. It was like a new world to me I was SLAYED by the most basic acts and when I discovered BigBang, the feelings
I wish to get back at that moment when you click on YouTube without knowing and getting your LIFE from anything.
I need help guys. One of my friend love Korean girls, he actually loves AS and HyunA (only the physics, not the music).
He listen to rap (the more hardcore and hood, the better) music only so I'm looking for a female rapper that goes really hard that hasn't got electro vibe on their songs.
