I was thinking it would be fun to have a rate between a couple of albums that are often called the greatest ever (e.g. Revolver, London Calling, Thriller, Pet Sounds) and see which one ATRL considers the best.

Revolver and Pet Sounds are musts. You could flesh it out with London Calling, What's Going On and Exile On Main St.

I still think including Thriller is worth considering, though. It's the ultimate pop album and would definitely bring in voters.

Hmmm, well what about Kind of Blue?
and yeah, I guess Revolver is considered the Beatles' masterpiece so that's there. I agree that Thriller would bring more people in but it might skew the votes. And Kind of Blue is important!

My idea wasn't about importance so much as "what are the five albums that every music list or fan calls the best ever?" I don't know about Kind of Blue (though I suppose you're welcome to interpret the rate however you like!).

I would say it belongs. It's the most influential/revered Jazz album ever, and I'd much rather have it in the rate than another rock album
