I think a big art of it was that she still wasn't done with the album until October. If you recall, the same thing happened with Born This Way: she was still working on it up until April (when Heavy Metal Lover was finished up if I'm correct), only one televised performance for Born This Way in its single era, only seven televised performances in total before the album's release, with most concentrated in May, etc. ARTPOP also got only seven televised performances before the album's release. The only difference between the two is that hype kept things going real strong for Born This Way and of course that she went hard with promo after Born This Way's release whereas those seven performances before ARTPOP were arguably the heavy promo for the era.
And then you have to take into account the personal struggles she was going through in 2013. It makes sense if you ask me.

I agree but you have to admit that it does look a bit like a flop in comparison to all but one of her other worldwide singles. I mean hell, it was the one to break her top ten streak in the US after all. (You hoes could have made it top ten if you too had participated in Marry the Night week. But nooo y'all gotta be difficult. )

Marry The Night was and is amazing. She promoted the **** out of it because she wanted it to be the lead and after 9/10 months she was finally giving it the time to shine that it deserved. The reason Applause didn't get as much promotion is because she was still recovering from major surgery, she didn't have time to prepare for barely any performances (or videos for that matter), and quite frankly, she didn't want to release it as the lead single. She wanted Venus, then Sex Dreams, then Aura (which she was denied and then leaked it) before Jimmy heard Applause and he said that wad the best option, to which Troy agreed of course.
The Marry The Night video is such an incredible moment in her career. By far the biggest insight into her life so far, and it's the reason I want a movie about her life, co-directed by her.

I read that on Gagadaily and I don't know if it's true (US only):

It was simply released at the wrong time of year. I think this is only true based on what actually occurred. Marry The Night didn't reach it's peak on Digital Songs and Pop Songs or Radio Songs until December 24th and January 7th, respectively, which implies that the oversaturation of Christmas and New Years songs drowned out any chances it had. Now, if it had taken off upon release, as I believe GaGa's team had planned, this wouldn't have really been a problem. It simply would have picked back up once all the madness died down. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

Just like for Judas, if Interscope had waited a bit & given the single a few more weeks, maybe Marry The Night could have sold 1,000,000 copies in the US with a higher peak ? ("If" again, I know. But yeah).
Anyway, I'm not gonna deny the fact Marry The Night was disappointing. But it's clearly not so bad for a 5th single 713,000 copies in the US, 200,000 in the UK. A shame it didn't take off WW. That's the same reason Yoü & I seems like a total flop. Both songs did absolutely nothing outside the US.

Guys should I try and request her on radio? And which song or songs along with few others from other artists so it won't look that suspicious.

She looks great and happy, that's a good indicator for the next album, she needs to be happy so she can put a trully great record and promote it effectively!

November 13 - The X Factor UK
November 17 - Children In Need
November 20 - Alan Carr: Chatty Man
November 23 - A Very Gaga Thanksgiving
November 30 - Grammy Nominations Concert
December 3 - KISS FM's Jingle Ball (non-televised)
December 9 - The Ellen Degeneres Shw
December 9 - Z100 Jingle Ball (non-televised)
December 23 - Music Station
December 31 - Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve
Now that's what I call dedicated promo. Too bad it didn't necessarily work. Still her best song though.

EMAs, Bambi, Ellen and Chatty Man were good promo. The X-Factor performance was the biggest letdown ever, it was so terrible with the severed head thing. At least she ended up getting big press for being nice to the girl who got kicked off the show though when she ran out on stage to her on live TV
Children in Need was a set so it got lost among her other hits, same with the Thanksgiving show. Dick Clark isn't somewhere you can really push a new and/or underperforming single tbh, and Music Station was Japan-specific (thank God so nobody remembers the wig mess). The others weren't televised. But damn, the UK really god MTN shoved down their throats (EMAs, Chatty Man, Children in Need and X-Factor!)
