An unfortunate situation. If you take away the remix of STIUTK, their sales aren't far apart, and who knows why they keep spinning STIUTK out the ass even as Call Me Maybe is decimating its sales with less AI. Hell, STIUTK is about to fall below We Are Young, which is still selling consistently despite its airplay collapsing ages ago in comparison. Call Me Maybe was the bigger phenomenon; I'm all for it getting the year-end #1.

First of all, I don't think the Tiesto remix ever even cracked the Top 100.
Secondly, of course CMM is selling more now; STIUTK peaked about a month before it. But the only reason why it's anywhere near the Top 10 now is because of the extra promotion it got from the Glee performance.
But at this point, there's absolutely no chance of CMM getting the #1 on the year end chart. None. Even if it manages to surpass Gotye's overall sales by November, Gotye's airplay and streaming numbers absolutely demolish Carly's.
You can call CMM the bigger song all you want, but we'll have to let Billboard be the judge of that, won't we?
