This video was such a turning point in her career. Everybody, including myself, was convinced she couldn't get any crazier. I mean, she comes out of nowhere two years earlier with a lightning bolt painted on her face, wearing a cheap handmade white outfit and singing about disco sticks, and everybody thought, "yeah, this chick can't get any crazier." And then singlehandedly with one music video she forever changed the course of her career (it's truly better than Bad Romance). So it's mid-2010 and the music video is causing a stir; it's blasphemous, dark, vulgar yet beautiful, people are blasé to her schtick and, still, nobody really gets her. She's mysterious, terrifying, ugly when she wants to be: things nobody else was doing. Then two months later she shows up to the VMAs in a meat dress, wins 7 awards and announces her new album like, "you still haven't seen anything yet."
It's just brilliant.
