The CEO of RCA said that the new gold is platinum. With that statement you would think that they are really appreciating Kelly's sales.
I checked the RCA list of artists and only P!nk, Kelly and Alicia are big album sellers 
Chris Brown, Foo Fighters, Usher, Kings Of Leon, Pitbull, Adam Lambert and R.Kelly all failed to reach platinum, some didn't even go gold with there last effort

Stronger - 4,000,000
Dark Side 675,000
= 6,375,000 sales
Album
Stronger (Album) - 1,000,000 sales
So that's 7,375,000 in sales for the Stronger era. And don't forget labels are saying that 10 single sales are equivalent to 1 album sale. So, technically 6,375,000 equates to another 637,500 album sales. That's equivalent to 1,637,500 album sales. And if they're using 500k as the new platinum, then Stronger is a triple platinum album in their eyes.
