I'm sure you're joking but this reminds me of that other thread where everyone believed that Ellie slept with Burns when Marina was dating him, but I don't think that's the case at all. Judging from the lyrics on multiple songs on the album, I think Marina broke up with Burns beforehand, it's just that Ellie came into the picture when Burns was still wounded from the breakup and obviously Marina still cared about him a lot and didn't want to see him get used.
