She needs to go after Adele her fanbase. Columbia should spam everyone that signed up to receive updates about Adele with Bey her release.
But a ballad as the lead single will work, especially for her tour schedule, she'll still be able to promote because she won't have to worry about any choreography.... The only tricky thing is if the ballad is too pop for her urban audience.
