Lady Gaga debuts @ #1 today becoming the first song to debut at the top spot since i turned the chart into a weekly one. In fact the song is the first to debut at #1 since September 2012, 11 months to be exact, not since Rihanna's "Diamonds."
The song debuts on the top spot thanks to a #1 debut on Airplay songs and by arriving at #4 on Video Plays thanks to its lyric video. In fact, it is thanks to its lyric video that the song hits #1 because Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop" is still going strong. The song is Gaga's 4th #1 debut, she ties John Mayer with the same amount, Rihanna leads all artists with 5.
Gaga also prevents Miley from matching her record for most weeks at #1 on a weekly chart, Miley falls short of the 6 week record that "Telephone" feat. Beyonce set back in 2010. The song is Lady Gaga's 17th #1, she only trails Rihanna with 24 #1s.
Miley steps down 1-2 after 5 consecutive weeks on top, the song is still going strong. Flying 25-3 is Katy Perry's "Roar." The song jumps 17-2 on Airplay. The song is her first Top 5 since "Wide Awake" spent 2 days on top last summer. The song has no Video Plays points but it will surely keep on going up especially when the music video is released. This is not the only Katy song in the top 10.
At #4 is Cassadee Pope who is not giving up as she drops 2-4, one of the smallest drops this week considering all of the craziness.
John Mayer posts a triple threat on the chart this week as he charts 3 songs in the top 10 thanks to the Itunes streaming of his new album this past week. He rises 6-5 with "Wildfire," 11-7 with "Paper Doll" and debuts at #9 with "Who You Love" featuring noneother than Katy Perry.
