If Kesha dropped a song out of no where with a kick-ass video I think it could slay. The song just needs to be catchy and unique (there seems to be a trend of implementing as many styles of music into a song as you can) - so a pop track with a 60s vibe would slay.
It'll grow on y'all, probably. I was slayed on first listen, though. I just laughed the whole way through the MV. Yeah it's basic but I stan for Kesha and Katy Perry, that's never bothered me in the slightest before, so why should it bother me now? Basic music can slay. Being basic and being bad aren't always synonymous.
I don't know, I kinda feel like as soon as you start thinking "I'm too old / mature for this kind of music" or "this is too childish / basic / generic to allow myself to get into it" you know that's when you're taking life / yourself / music a biT too seriously. It's just fun.
