It's hard for ANYONE to get a Womanizer or TTWE sales wise these days.

I think Britney will make a huge comeback. (by huge I mean like a reasonable comeback in today's standards of course) so like a Gold album in the US and like 2 top 10's or something. I miss her and her music.

This. Even if she manages to have another comeback, sales are extremely low right now...Even Work by Rihanna (a smash hit) has "only" sold 2.5 million worldwide after 3 months. Britney is not getting close to 250 million records & that's fine.

Exactly which is why i specifically mentioned close to 250M not 250M

Back in 2014 I had a different idea but with streaming taking over and digital sales impacted I want it to get as close to 250M as possible.


Keeping in mind the closer she gets the more probable media will report the number.

See how she's the closest to 100M albums than any female of her generation with 90M+ sales so they go with 100M albums (probably shipments).

They do it with Madonna, Mariah, MJ all legends past 200M

Like the other poster said,

I too want top 10 hits, gold/platinum in sales gold/platinum in streaming if not both

Gold albums in sales would be delightful.

Gold/plaitinum with these silly SEAs/TEAS would be amazing.

I don't think anyone is thinking she'd get a 2x platinum album in pure sales knowing how much work it takes for new pop stars to get there.

Basically they are going based on certified albums + singles and ringtones in the US.

They could have just said 80 or 85 but who knows why they'd do it.

Possibly if all of her singles were certified like her albums (even if undercertified) then they'd give a more accurate number.

They only have albums that are mostly certified. Only 5M Britney singles are certified

quite often they use records and album sales interchangeably.

Plenty of Billboard articles have them saying 100M/nearly albums

They clearly are not intentionally implying that she only sold 30M albums and singles WW.

I wish they would just say 90M albums and 100M singles since they were saying approaching 90 million over 5 years ago and she's sold enough to be past 90M now.

$31,300 from publishing
$10,000,000 from touring

EDIT: Keep in mind that touring for all artists is 34% of their gross for Billboard's findings. We know thanks to TMZ that Britney actually grosses $475k per show and she did 71 shows last year.

That means Britney grossed $33,725,000 from touring last year and was actually #4 for overall top earners in the U.S. in 2016
