KPop question time: What are y'all's theories as to why group sizes generally are bigger in the east (5+ members) than the west (3-5)? Is it impossible for a 5/6+ membered group to succeed in the west?

Only a few large groups actually succeed with the public though... Plus Asia is just more used to seeing groups than the West is. People though SNSD was weird as **** for having so many members when they debuted. It's not like they didn't get flack for looking like a whole high school performing compared to other groups.

In Korea, SM is the only company that seems to be able to support large groups (7+) and maintain their popularity.

Japan is Japan and they are really unexplainable and just like weird things. AKB48 being successful there isn't really noteworthy to me

With the way Amber was talking about the song + the fact that they went to LA to learn choreography for Cash Me Out makes me believe that it was originally the title track instead of RPPP. (The breakdown screams Pink Tape tbh).

I'm assuming SM couldn't get the rights to the song or something along those lines and thats when RPPP happened. If Cash Me Out isn't the repack single then it's probably never going to happen.

Cash Me Out would have sent f(x) to the next level. Given them that push they need. It's nothing groundbreaking as a song, but f(x) would FINALLY get a song that screams smash hit that everyone loves. The catchy verses, the catchy chorus, etc. Such a wasted opportunity

Collectivism. Western society is individualist. For a collectivist society, more people working together is encoded from birth to mean "better."
