Riskbreaker Top 40
April 16,2011
This week arcs the most exciting weeks to come, as the race for that number one spot heats up. Brace yourself with a lot of wig snatchings for the next few weeks.
Lady GaGa's Born This Way logs its 4th week atop RT40, defending the title against Ke$ha's Blow, which settles for the runner up spot for the second consecutive week. Referencing my old chart, 'Born' is GaGa's second single to top the chart for four weeks. In December 2009, Bad Romance topped Final 20 for the whole month.
Hey Monday further moves in RT40 this week. Candles moves to no. 3 and is now a strong contender for the number-one spot next week. Hey Monday can possibly win over the heavily played songs Born This Way and Blow and score their first number-one song next week. However, a song bounces back as a strong contender. Following the release of the "Rih-mix" version which features Britney Spears, Rihanna's S&M rises to no. 4. Closing the top five is, former number-one song, Maroon 5's Never Gonna Leave This Bed.
Katy Perry overtakes Justin Bieber this week, as E.T. feat. Kanye West moves 9-6 while That Should Be Me feat. Rascal Flatts inches from no. 8 to no 7. Both songs keep on moving forward every week.
Bruno Mars' Liquor Store Blue enters the top ten this week and peaks at no. 9. This is Mars' second top ten hit for RT40, following the hit Grenade. Dev's Bass Down Low completes this week's top ten.
There are two strong debuts this week coming from Bruno Mars and Maroon 5. Mars' latest single The Lazy Song is the top debut at no. 18 and Maroon 5's Runaway comes close at no. 19. Reviewing the past charts (which includes charts from RT40 and Final 20), Mars and Maroon 5 both experienced massive successes with their respective previous singles.
Also debuting this week are Snoop Dogg & David Guetta's Sweat at no. 32, Jason Aldean & Kelly Clarkson's Don't You Wanna Stay at no. 36, Chirs Brown, Kevin McCall &Se7en's Spend It All at no. 37, and The Cataracs & Dev's Top Of The World at no. 40.
With some A-listers, some newbies and maybe some 'dark horses' heating up the charts, who will make it on top? Any fearless forecast? Discuss.
