"Janet Jackson" is one of the few names that has successfully amalgamated itself into the popular vocabulary terms, though recalling her achievements would have to take a little effort.

Is that why Mariah is barely selling gold now after over-saturating the market in the 90s??
I mean, even Whitney can still go on a world tour...as well as the rest of Mariah's contemporaries...
On-Topic: People try to act like Beyonce is one of the Top 10 best-selling artists out right now...theirs plenty of competition, the world just likes her alot more

People were interested in Whitney's "I Look To You" only because people were interested in her much publicised meltdown. They wanted to hear her comeback album.
Janet has never had that sort of meltdown.

Mariah never had a studio album except her last that didn't go at least 2x platinum. In fact, most of her albums were at least 4x platinum. Even her GH sold more than any of Beyonce's albums. All her riches came from record sales. She is the 3rd richest female musician in the world yet she's not a huge touring artist. Imagine how richer she could be if she was. She has nothing more to prove.

Why compare album sales from Maria's time to Beyonce's time. Every Tom, Dick and Harry can tell you that albums are ten years out of date. Whilst you and I mightn't agree, we live in a singles' world. It's like comparing apples to oranges

True!
And that does not take away all the things that Mariah and Janet has accomplished in the past, cuz they both have been very successful, but we live in a different time now. These days some even think that going 3 mil Worldwide is a huge achievement for some artists, times have changed.
Anyway there was a list of the different countries IASF went platinum and gold in and there were PLENTY of different countries accross the globe were she went atleast plat, not just the US, UK and Brazil  I live in Europe myself (not the UK) and everybody and their mama knows about Beyonce LOL. And since the US and UK are some of the biggest markets in the world of course she will sell alot of copies there.
If I find the list I will post it.

Well, if it's not fair to compare Mariah's sales and Beyonce's sales because of the different time period, is it really fair to compare the amount of Grammys Beyonce has to the amount of Grammys someone like Mariah or Janet has when there are far more categories and a lot less competition right now? Some of you are inconsistent and biased, and I love all of those ladies.

Y'all can say whatever you want, I'm not even reacting anymore. Janet Jackson had her peaks, and now she's slowing getting irrelevant. Beyoncé had peaks and is never gonna be irrelevant, cause look how much influence she had on this decade, and the previous decade with DC alone. And she's still so young.

She had longevity because she had the vision and the sensibility to stay afloat. She has better business sense than Michael, that's for sure, and her output matched his in quality from 1986 to 2001. All of her albums are OVER CERTIFIED! And no her greatest hits did NOT outsell Beyonces albums. You sound dumb! Oh and Beyonce is richer than Mariah will ever be so don't event try to argue against that because you will lose. Beyonce makes in a year what Mariah was making in three years.

Mariah came up in the 90s...Beyonce became prominent around 2000...theres no comparison there...however, Mariah released multiple albums in the 2000s and Beyonce slayed her...
Yes, Mariah has nothing to prove when it comes to record sales, unless put up against Madonna...but you cant say Mariah slays Beyonce or any other artist that dragged her thru the 2000s and can put on a successful world tour...
As per your words, Imagine if Beyonce came up in the 90s with the same impact she had today...how Beyonce is running music right now is what Mariah didnt have the balls to do in the 90s
